The Alas Foundation was founded in Jakarta by professional divers, initially to support efforts to develop conservation tourism areas around the Alas Strait, Lombok. In its development, the foundation was also established to provide support for the development of ecologically based tourism that is environmentally friendly and contributes to and empowers the community.

With experience in the tourism industry, especially the scuba diving industry, the founders of the Alas foundation hope that the foundation can help develop new areas for natural beauty-based tourism, especially in the field of sea and coastal-based tourism.
The founders of the foundation believe that society is a factor that cannot be separated from the development of tourism activities in a particular area. By involving and empowering local communities, tourism can develop in a balanced way, advance and have a long-term impact.
The founders of the Alas Foundation also believe that tourism, especially marine and beach-based tourism, is a huge opportunity that can be exploited for the welfare of a more advanced and long-term society. This collaborative activity with the community will provide guarantees for better natural conservation. It is believed that an economy based on the environment, forests and marine biodiversity can guarantee a better and more sustainable life
